Did you watch Joanna Lumley on her Nile cruise last night on ITV1? The excitement and atmosphere is every bit as good as it appeared on the programme, and I cannot recommend a Nile cruise strongly enough.
When we did our Nile cruise in January this year, we were on ‘Nile Odyssey’. Joanna Lumley was on the ‘Nile Commodore’ which is also part of the ‘Presidential Nile Cruises’ fleet. We had a good look around the ‘Nile Commodore’ when we were in Luxor, and can recommend the ‘Presidential Nile Cruises’ boats.
The Galabeya party which Joanna was filmed at having a great time, is enjoyable and they take place on all of the Nile cruise boats. The outfits can be purchased quite cheaply either on the boat, or in one of the market areas you visit.
A Nile cruise with ‘Presidential Nile Cruises’ will take you from Luxor to Aswan and back, with stops at Kom Ombo and Edfu, and you go through the impressive Esna lock. During the cruise you will be taken on a number of excursions accompanied by a fully qualified Egyptologist, to wonderful sites such as the Valley of the Kings, the Temples of Hatshepsut, Luxor, Karnak, Philae, Khnum, the Colossi of Memnon, the Aswan Dam and a Felucca ride. These are all included in the price of the cruise, although optional excursions are also available, such as Abu Simbel, Sound and Lights shows, and a Hot Air Balloon ride.
